Heat Covering Themselves in Glory . . . or is it Ridicule?

The Miami  Heat came into Boston and, well, to put it lightly, they're not exactly covering themselves in glory.

First there was the celebrated take-down of Rajon Rondo leading to Rondo's elbow being dislocated.  Rondo came back out to play with one good arm, but to say the injury could have been worse, maybe even season ending or career ending, would not be an understatement.

Wade has a habit of pulling players down with him and other dirty play. Writer Bill Simmons has described at least 6 dirty plays by Thug Wade in this Playoff  Round.  That's why around here we call Wade, Mr. McDirty or Thug Wade, or Wade McDirty.

Thug (McDirty) Wade takes down Rondo dislocating Rondo's elbow.

Next up comes Lebron James showcasing his "Foot in Mouth Disease" calling a female reporter "retarded".  After she asked Thug Wade a question about his dirty play, James, with his hand over his mouth muttered "She's retarded." to McDirty."  Someone off to the side cackles like a Laughing Hyena on stupid pills, a hideous laugh while the assembled sportswriters shuffle their feet uncomfortably.

Does it rise to the level of Kobe's using a homophobic slur against a ref?  Probably not.  Probably, no fine or suspension will follow.  Was it insulting?  Oh, yes it was.  The word "retarded" is not a bad word, just one that is not considered politically correct at this time.  It was at one time perfectly acceptable to describe someone with birth defects that left them mentally disabled or born mongoloid, retarded.

But it has also always been used as an insult to question someone's intelligence or competence, akin to calling someone stupid, or a moron, on a nin-come-poop, all of which James, himself, appears to be in light of his performance at this press conference.

I'm guessing the Heat will be glad to leave Boston for Miami, and I hope they go back 2 -2 in the series.  But covered in glory they will not be.  They themselves made sure of that.
